  • A doula is an advocate who provides support to families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Their role includes offering emotional and physical support, education on birthing practices, and guidance on breastfeeding and newborn care. Doulas help create a positive birthing experience by advocating for the family’s preferences and needs, ensuring they feel informed and empowered throughout the process.

  • A midwife is a trained healthcare professional who provides medical care during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. They are licensed to deliver babies and perform medical procedures. A doula, on the other hand, offers emotional support, education, and physical assistance before, during, and after childbirth but does not provide medical care. While midwives focus on the clinical aspects of birth, doulas emphasize the emotional and informational support to enhance the birthing experience.

  • It’s ideal to hire a doula during your pregnancy, usually around 20–30 weeks, to ensure they can meet with you and build a relationship. However, it’s never too late to hire one, even if you are closer to your due date.

  • Absolutely. Whether you’re planning a natural birth, epidural, or c-section, doulas are able to provide comprehensive support and education to prepare you for any scenario.

  • Either! I have experience with both hospital and home births and will ensure to give the best support no matter where you deliver.

  • Not at all! A doula works alongside your support system, offering guidance and helping the partner and family participate in ways that are supportive and comforting.

  • Of course! I believe everyone deserves the beauty of creating a family. I’m happy to use any pronouns and gender neutral language you prefer in regards to birthing person/chest-feeding.

  • I want to ensure women across NYC (and everywhere) have access to care. If you’re unable to afford my rates, please reach out and i’d be happy to work with you on a sliding scale.

  • Feel free to contact me through the consult form and i’d be happy to answer and questions you have!
